Martha Keochareon was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer nearly seven years ago, and then told she had six months to live. A graduate of the nursing program at Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, Massachusetts, she called Kelly Keane and asked if there were any ambitious nursing students who would like to study her and learn about pancreatic cancer, pain management, and death and dying. Cindy Santiago and Michelle Eliot were nominated by their professors to begin visiting Martha in her home. Martha died on Saturday December 29, 2012.
